In the Breeo X series, the patented X airflow system on the bottom invites oxygen in to feed the fire. Both fire pits are engineered to maximize airflow, utilizing a double wall design that encourages more oxygen into the fire pit to burn off the smoke before exiting out the top, resulting in a beautiful secondary burn. The science behind making these smokeless fire pits is basically the same for both brands. The Bonfire fire pit would require the stand, sold separately (MSRP $69.99) in order to be used on combustible surfaces. We find the legs to be plenty sturdy in any position and did not have any issues with the fire pit wobbling. The adjustable legs make it so that the Y series is safe to light over any surface (grass, deck, woodchips, etc.) without scalding the ground beneath. They are easily adjusted (prior to lighting your fire) between 3 heights for stow, burn, and cook. One of the key standout features of the new Breeo Y series fire pit is the adjustable height legs. Personally, a wood fire in the Breeo Y Series fire pit is by far my favorite, but the ability to burn charcoal and pellets is also nice to have in my back pocket as additional options. (Note to self, buy a chainsaw…) Consequently, the time to achieve a smokeless burn was also much longer than when we used firewood. No matter where you’re burning, make sure to always monitor your fire and follow standard safety protocols.įor even more savings opportunities, head over to our Memorial Day coupon page to check out the deals from some of our favorite brands. In our experience, we found that burning pellets took a much longer time to reach a full burn, but was a convenient option when all of the wood left on our wood rack was too long for this size of a smokeless fire pit. However, you can pick up a stand to safely burn on other surfaces like grass and wood (some of the bundles above include a stand). If you’re burning on concrete, stone, gravel or dirt, you don’t need to put anything under your Solo Stove. If you need to leave it outside, the brand suggests keeping it covered to protect it from the elements. Solo Stove recommends that you store your fire pit in a cool, dry location. The brand recommends low-moisture options like, kiln-dried oak or maple, which will burn at higher temperatures. Solo Stove’s fire pits are designed to burn wood. Each pit features vented, double-walled construction that minimizes the overall output of smoke and makes your time around the fire a little more enjoyable. The main selling point of Solo Stove’s fire pits is the innovative, virtually smokeless designs. You can do this with fire pit tools or any type of poker and lab grabber to help stoke the flames. Keep the fire going: If your fire starts to die down, mix up the wood to bring fresh oxygen to the fire.Don’t rush to throw in larger logs until after you have a nice ember bed smoldering-this helps the double walls inside your Solo Stove heat up so you can get a long-lasting burn. Start your fire with a lighter, fire starter and some dry kindling (you can use small twigs, chunkwood or firewood for kindling). Set it up like a pro: Solo’s models are designed to be easy to set up.Depending on the model you choose, you can grill everything from appetizers to an entire meal. If, however, you want to make s’mores, heat up food and grill, a stove is your best bet. This option is great for outdoor entertaining on the patio and simple camping trips.
